What do you do when you find yourself in a country where you may or may not speak the language, but cannot by any means go without a “good quality” coffee?

Well if you find yourself in that group MADD GOAT is definitively your answer and lets get things straight from the beginning, this is not just any coffee place.

For starters it’s a small and cosy place that will make you feel at home as soon as you go in, the “smell” will get you into the “which variety to start with” mode.

So allow me to introduce you to your hosts, Scott Roberts: from Duluth Minnesota, USA, an Economist and Philosopher who heard of Pucon in Chile, through Kayaking back in 1998 and Olivia Lopez: a Commercial Engineer from Villarrica. Obviously Olivia had something to do in keeping this “gringo” in the area but could not find a coffee such as the ones he was used to back home and had to bring them over from the United States every time he travelled.

Find a need…. Meet a need

To cut the story short Scott and Olivia decided to start this lovely coffee shop called MADD GOAT which is their own brand that attracts many who love to enjoy coffee selected from different parts of the world such as Ethiopia, Kenya, Sumatra, Guatemala, Colombia, Honduras, etc. and all their origins are 100% Arabic and just commerce with the majority being certified organic grains.

You can actually step into MADD GOAT when they are just toasting coffee grains enough for the shop in order to have it as fresh as possible for you to take it home or to your restaurant, something which marks a distinctive difference from commercial coffees that are packed months in advance and will loose their optimum quality.

Which ones would be in the “not to miss list”? Preparations based on filtrates such as V60, Chemex, Aeropress, among others where you can also choose which origin you prefer to sample. There’s also another special one called the Cold Brew which is prepared with a special blend, a cold coffee for the hot days that contains low acidity and super refreshing!
